New Office for Intel R&D Center (CNews) [08.06.07]

Intel development and research center has officially opened its new premises in "Satis Techno Park" located near Nizhny Novgorod.  It is expected that the number of the techno park employees is to increase ten times within three years.  Some experts believe that the shortage of qualified IT specialists might block the realization of the ambitious plan. Others believe that Intel will offer its employees a proposal which will be difficult to resist.

Initially, the Intel development center was situated in Sarov (the former closed city - Arzamas–16). Over 100 different specialists have been transferred into the new office.  William A. Swope, the Corporation Vice President and the subsidiary Corporate Affairs Group Head noted the company intended to strengthen its subsidiaries operating in Russia and also support the domestic scientific and technological sphere and IT market.

Intel Russia office employees say one of the reasons for the move was the difficulty related to the access of the Intel's US representatives to the closed city.  Satic Techno Park located just 4 km off Sarov and was opened on October 5, 2006. JFSC Systema is Techno Park’ managing company. 14 companies are registered in the IT-park, however apparently Intel is the only one to operate.

The Intel Development Center is located in the IT-Park in a separate 3,740 km space block. The company’s representatives could hardly estimate the project overall investment volume, and Alexey Kibalko, Intel Sarov Subsidiary Top-Manager said that some USD 15 million was invested into the office construction. The current number of employees is 190. By 2010 the total number of jobs in the park will have a double increase, reported CNews.ru
