Dergunova Leaves Microsoft Russia (CNews.ru) [18.06.07]
Microsoft Russia confirmed confirmed today that Olga Dergounova leaves the post of Microsoft Director in Russia and CIS after 13 years in the company. Mr. Birger Sten, Microsoft Russia Director General, and some other top managers are to take all the responsibilities of the Microsoft management in Russia.
Mr. Sten managed to multiply the number of regional offices and employees 2-fold and 4-fold respectively. He also launched such popular Microsoft products in the Russian market as Xbox®, MSN® and Windows Mobile®. Sten replaced Olga Dergounova on the post of Microsoft Rus Director General in 2004.
"Olga’s active participation in local partners network development resulted in appearance of a number of innovative programs which led to the decrease of piracy in Russia. Olga made an enormous contribution into the development of Microsoft Russia and we wish her success in the future”, - Jean-Philippe Courtois, Microsoft International President says.
“Together with the IT-industry in Russia Microsoft has gone a long way. It created a strong base for the successful development of the industry in the future. Currently, modern IT play an important role for the state, business and society in Russia, being a key factor in the development of economy. It is a pleasure to realize that Microsoft plays such an important role in the development and there is also my contribution to the success of the sector, which is actively developing”, - Ms. Dergounova stated.
Olga Dergounova began working at Microsoft in 1994. She was appointed Microsoft Moscow Representation Office Head in 1995 and was fully responsible for the company products sales and launch in Russia and CIS. Since 2004 she has been engaged in development and realization of the company’s long-term strategic plans as Microsoft in Russia and CIS President, reported CNews.
