Russian Federal Communication Agency Ceases its Radio Frequency Allocation Activities [18.06.07]
Russian Federal Communication Agency reported that based on the government decree No. 354 from June 6 2007, it ceases its activities on frequency allocations for radio electronic devices and registration of frequency allocation. This function is now being implemented by the Federal Service on Control in Mass Media, Communication and Protection of Cultural Heritage (FSCMMCPCH).
In addition, FSCMMCPCH will also take over licensing for communication services. In particular, Russian Communication Service will pass to the new Agency all materials related to the GSM-900/1800 tenders in 61 Russian regions that were announced earlier, says Prime-TASS. FSCMMCPCH representatives reported that the newly created agency is working on the take over and will start functioning as soon as the reorganization work is completed. FSCMMCPH was created based on the Russian Presidential Decree No 320 of March 12, 2007. The Agency was created by a merger of the Federal Service on Control of Mass Media and Protection of Cultural Heritage and Federal Communication Control Service.
Mr. Boris Boyarskov became the head of the new Agency
